We are still waiting for permits, loan approvals etc. In the meantime we came across nearmap.com.au which can give Google Map like satellite views at different dates.
Here are three images showing just prior to knock down, during the knock down and when the pool was being installed.
Amazing coincidence that the first picture they have for 2011 was on the day and time the pool was being delivered.
We recently sold our home to move to a location that would allow the kids to easily get to and from school and in the future university. We bought a knock-down in Mount Waverley, this is what happened next.

We have a pool
Over the past two weeks the pool has been installed. Firstly they dug the hole and inserted the shell:
Trenches and pipes to were laid for the pump and filter, but they will not be installed until after the house.
They then put the water in the shell, concreted around the shell and boarded it up for the duration of the house build:
One of our new neighbours came over when the pool was coming in as they thought work had started on the house. They were pleased to hear that it was only the pool at this stage and that we are only planning a one-story home. I'm not surprised they were concerned given the number of homes in the area being replaced by either two-story town houses or two-story houses.
